Governors
Within the STAR Multi Academy Trust, each school has a Local Governing Board (LGB) that supports the work of the Trust and the school. It has certain delegated authority to oversee the running of the school under the Scheme of Delegation as defined by the Trust Board of the STAR Multi-Academy Trust. About our Local Governing Body (LGB)
Our governors are all volunteers. They work to support and challenge the school's leadership team.
All governors are equal voting members regardless of the category of governor or the manner of their appointment.

What do governors do?
Our governing board provides strategic leadership and accountability in school. It has three key functions:
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent
- Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction

Meet the Governors
I became a Governor in May 2023, so a relative beginner to the Governance process. I had a son at Riverside who joined Y5 from another school in 2020 and who has since moved to TGS in 2022. I am currently the EVC for an independent school in Leeds so I bring skills of organisation and an enhanced knowledge of safeguarding to my role.
I have recently been elected as co-chair of Riverside. I have worked in education for over 10 years and now work as the CFO for a multi academy trust of mainstream primary and special schools in East Yorkshire. My strengths are finance, audit and risk. Having moved into the neighbouring area recently with my partner and our children I am keen to have a link to the local community. My step children attend STAR Mat schools so I have a vested interest in the trust. I have previous experience of being a governor in similar schools and am delighted to be working with Riverside.
I have taught across the key stages and found my niche in Early Years. I am now Early Years Leader and Assistant Headteacher.
I am working with the EYFS Team to create a new Early Years unit with a shared provision across the 3 classroom and outdoor areas to enhance the learning environment and experiences for all our little learners.
I am delighted to be a staff governor at Riverside and want to help support in the development of our school as we move forwards.
I am Victoria Maycock. I am a qualified accountant with over 10 years experience.
Throughout my career I have gained valuable experience and skills that I hope to be able to share with Riverside School.
